Algorithmic trading is the execution of trading operations according to a given algorithm. The popularity of algorithmic trading on exchanges has led to the emergence of high-frequency trading. A new state of the art for unsupervised vision
MIT, Microsoft, and Cornell University have created an algorithm that can jointly discover and segment objects without any human labels at all, down to the pixel. Semantic segmentation is an important skill for computer-vision systems because images can be cluttered with objects. The majority of algorithms today get their knowledge from mounds of labeled data, which can take painstaking human-hours to source.

DALL-E 2, the future of AI research, and OpenAI’s business model
DALL-E 2 is a ‘generative model’ that creates complex output instead of performing prediction or classification tasks on input data. You provide a text description, and it generates an image that fits the description. The new model builds on the success of its predecessor and improves the quality and resolution of the output images thanks to advanced deep learning techniques. The announcement was accompanied by a social media campaign by OpenAI’s engineers and its CEO.

DALL·E 2 can create original, realistic images and art from a text description. It can combine concepts, attributes, and styles. It uses a process called “diffusion,” which starts with a pattern of random dots and gradually alters that pattern towards an image when it recognizes specific aspects of that image. DALL ·E 2 is a research project which we currently do not make available in our API.
MIT’s FutureMakers programs help kids get their minds around — and hands on — AI
MIT’s FutureMakers Create-a-Thon is part of the Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education initiative. Students learn how AI technologies work, then build something that uses AI. MIT piloted the program to students from all over the U.S. last year in two formats. The courses are designed to meet students and teachers where they are in terms of resources and comfort.

Will DeepMind’s AlphaCode Replace Programmers?
DeepMind’s AlphaCode was tested against human performance on coding challenges and achieved rank among the top 54% of human coders on Codeforces. The AplhaCode reads structured problem statements and generates the best possible solution. It was only possible due to large-scale transformers, which have shown promising results in code generations. These transformers were pre-trained on 175 GB of data from GitHub.
Tooth Tech: AI Takes Bite Out of Dental Slide Misses by Assisting Doctors
West Hollywood startup, Pearl, provides AI for dental images to assist in diagnosis. It landed FDA clearance last month, the first to get such a go-ahead for dentistry AI. The approval paves the way for its use in clinics across the U.S. Dentists can then share the AI findings with patients to facilitate informed dentist-patient discussions about diagnosis and treatment planning.
